Porcelain Boys @ Pleasant St. Basement. Mid-1990’s
Yes my favorite local band. Oddly not shot by me.
Porcelain Boys at First Ave.
September 17, 1989
I think they were opening for the Dead Milkmen this night. Big show for these 17 magazine superstars. Original 3 piece lineup (they started as a 4 piece) that recorded the early EP’s.
Away awhile
Never knew this album got a Japanese release. How cool is that!?!?
If you know me, you know the PB’s are not only my friends, but also my favorite band from this era.
Here’s the translation of the Japanese text on the Bandcamp site for your enjoyment!
The melodic band POLARCAIN BOYS has been active in New Jersey since the early 1990s, which is said to be a treasure trove of excellent American bands. The only masterpiece full-length album that had been discontinued while they were released by POPKID in 1997 is a happy relapse! It also includes two split singles with MARBLE that were also released by POP KID. Moreover, I also recorded two famous songs of marble of the split single opponent as a bonus track.
Digital remastering that makes full use of the latest technology from the original DAT has greatly improved the sound quality, and it has become so cool that I think it is a different band, and mr. Linkyding Hayashi, a famous engineer who is involved in recording a number of artists who were in charge of mastering this time, sneaked the finished master sound source into the bag secretly.
IF you like ALL/DESCENDENTS ~ CRUZIAN POP PUNK, you can enjoy one-shot KO sound, glowing melody sense, and dramatic development. A masterpiece with all the elements necessary for melodic punk.
35th St. Entry
Jason Knutson might the the nicest, happiest, pop punk nut I’ve ever met. Jason, if you read this….drop me a note. I’d love to know what other bands of yours I’m missing out on.
Los Banyos
The Indigo – Mankato, MN 1995ish
More pop-punk goodness from another of Jason’s bands.
Do-Over
1993 in Northfield, MN
Do-Over features Mankato’s prince of pop-punk, Jason Knutson who has been in just about every good pop-punk band in this state including the Porcelain Boys & Pocket Genius.
Away Awhile Demos
Everyone knows I love the PB’s. So here is another posting from the Superfan over at Willfully Obscure.
In the posting he talks about the Fetish for Female tape…I recorded that for the band, and somewhere in my basement are the 3/4″ videotape masters of that recording. I haven’t been able to find them in years though…..oh well.
There is also mention of a new remaster of the Away Awhile CD. You can buy that here.

Away Awhile (Review)
Sometimes the internet is just a complete waste of time and space. Other times I find great music I haven’t thought about in years. This is neither. Here is a great review of an old album this is never not loaded on my Zune. Its no secret that the PB’s are one of my favorite bands. I’m just always surprised at how many other folks love them too!

Video Footage
This is footage from the lineup that created the Away Awhile CD. Jason rockin’ the drums, Erik & Scoot.
