{"id":607,"date":"2010-02-23T02:26:28","date_gmt":"2010-02-23T08:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/MNPunk.com\/?p=607"},"modified":"2010-02-14T11:36:48","modified_gmt":"2010-02-14T17:36:48","slug":"the-27-various","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/MNPunk.com\/?p=607","title":{"rendered":"The 27 Various"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First album by this Ed Ackerson band.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll catch hell for this, but I liked Ed&#8217;s previous band, the Dig a lot better.\u00a0 I was just never into this band.\u00a0 To each his own though.\u00a0 Ed also went on to some level of success with the post 27 Various project, Polara.<\/p>\n<p>Ed has been in so many bands, and produced so many records, making Ed a powerhouse on the Minneapolis music scene.\u00a0\u00a0 One of Ed&#8217;s greatest accomplishments was the label that he helped start with John Kass,\u00a0 Susstones.\u00a0 The Susstones\/Prospective group of labels went on to put out a lot of local Minnesota bands in the 80&#8217;s &amp; 90&#8217;s.\u00a0 Helping document that, is Ed&#8217;s biggest contribution in my mind.\u00a0 More than that though, he and John supported a whole scene of 60&#8217;s influenced rock\/pseudo-psychedelia in Minnesota and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, this is what <a href=\"http:\/\/tt.net\" target=\"_blank\">Twin\/Tone<\/a> has to say about the album:<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Ed Ackerson<\/strong> : vocals, guitar, sitar, keyboards<br \/>\n<strong>Jed Mayer<\/strong> : drums<br \/>\n<strong>Jay Orff<\/strong> : bass, vocals<br \/>\n<strong>Jerry Lefkowitz<\/strong> : guitar, vocals<\/span> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Produced by James Harrington and Ed Ackerson<\/strong><br \/>\nEngineered by Scott Tuttle<br \/>\nRecorded at The Underground, Minneapolis<br \/>\n(Fall-Winter 1986)<\/span> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Originally released by <a href=\"http:\/\/gojohnnygo.com\" target=\"_blank\">John Kass<\/a> (Prospective Records) on his <a href=\"http:\/\/susstones.com\" target=\"_blank\">Susstones<\/a> label.
