Joe Lyon

Joe Lyon

Ryan’s Corner

St. Paul, MN

20 December 1987

Joe Lyon is a dark performance artist. Lots of blood and stuff. The performance was silent but uses a lot of goth styled music to set the mood. If you love old horror movies, magic, mixed with an Impaler/Gwar type stage show with plenty of blood, then this is for you. The performance was a benefit show at Ryan’s Corner in St. Paul: Metal for Man’s Best Friend.

Other videos from this night are posted here, so seek them out!

To remove the copyright strike, I have muted portions of the audio in performance.

Skull Fuck

Skull Fuck was Nikki & Pad who later went on to do Iron Fist. One of the most under-rated hard core punk bands from Minneapolis in the early 80’s. I don’t know much about the 567 generation VHS dub video, other than this video was handed to me by the 34th Iron Fist front man and superfan Ollie Stench YEARS ago!

If you have more information to share, leave it in the comments!

Disturbed

This was a benefit show at Ryan’s Corner. This is not the Disturbed from popular radio fame…this is Minnesota’s Disturbed, and features Earl Root. The had a self-titled album on Channel 83 Records. If you didn’t know Earl, he had to have been Minneapolis’ biggest champion of Metal. He ran a 6 hour long all Metal radio show on KFAI each week and he was just an all-around good guy. Sadly, Earl passed many years back. I think it was cancer. If you know more, maybe you can leave a note in the comments.

Ollie Stench and the Humbugs

Back by popular demand!

Orignially posted in 2010 on Christmas day, for our 200th post. 11 Years later, I’m reposting it (because the original links are long dead) here because Distorted Media has re-released this ball of Christmas angst on Bandcamp! Stream it here, and buy it at Bandcamp.

So while the rest of your family may be blasting the Christmas “classics”…maybe you can figure out how to slide this little slice of Christmas magic into the mix

Rad Owl

This was a pre-Fest show in Tampa, Florida. Half of Rad Owl were Jon Snodgrass’s “buddies” at Fest this year so the rest of the band snuck their way onto the Fest lineup. This lineup of Rad Owl features special guest guitarist Greg Hoffman from Doc Hopper. Jon Snodgrass from Armchair Martian also sings a song or two with the band. How F’n cool is that?
