The Last Days Of Pompeii

Long out of print LP from the former Husker Du drummer.  I can’t think of many folks with as bad of luck with record labels as Grant Hart.  Just about everything he has done post-Husker’s is out of print because the labels have folded, and The entire Husker Du catalog it tied up in a court battle between the band and SST.  Sucks.

Not really punk, but a Twin Cities mainstay from the era.  I know the LP was on TwinTone, but I don’t know much about the EP as this would be the first I’ve heard of it.  This website lists them as "Ska" but the only similarity to Ska with guys guys was that they had horns…..at least that’s my memory of them anyway.

Mindreader EP

Hands down one of my favorite local bands.  Garage punk before most people knew what punk was.  This was from the poorly produced (muddy) Treehouse Records LP, with a bonus non-LP track.  Get it anyway because these guys know how to rock!

Combat Boot Camp

Despite what Warner Bros. claimed, this Boot Camp EP was Powermad’s first record.  Of course, you can’t blame Bugs Bunny from wanting to ignore it.  The production quality is poor, and the band has a much more raw sound than the polished WB release…..oh, and most of the songs on this EP were on the 2  WB records.

Anyway, I’m sad to call these guys MN’s most accomplished metal band, because there were so many better metal bands out there, but that seems to be what happened.

2 Demos

I’ve known these guys forever.  In fact I put out a few of their records/tapes for them.   Great guys, great band. Defiantly not politically correct.   Crossover style metal/punk in the D.R.I. style.  These two tapes from 1986/1987feature the original singer Bubba, who died a few years back.

Processed Humanity EP

I remember Dennis from the many Oakdale metal party’s.  I always thought he looked like that dude from Styx.  Great guy.  Ross went on to play with Morticia.  I don’t remember much about the band itself, other that I traveled to Eau Claire with them and Death Squad to see them play in hotel or something.  Weird.  All of the band’s gear was transported in a fruit truck.  Weird.

I bought this album back in the day.  They also had a 7" on Channel 83 Records.    I want to say they had a demo tape too…one of these days I’ll dig those all out….after a buy as new a cassette deck…..

The Coup de Grace

Their first record on the long defunct Red Decible Records.  This one brings to vinyl many of their earliest, most catchy metal masterpieces.   As far as I know, they have only two other releases, a blue vinyl 7" single, and a CD called The art of Survival.  I own both…maybe one day I’ll rip and post them.
