Boneclub

From the early to the end.  This must have been one of the final lineups.  No original members other than Andrew.  The arrangements of the old songs seem to be different.  Honestly, not much to like here for me, but a good contrast from the early days (yesterdays post) to the last days (this post).  This is part 1 of 9 that I believe make a complete show.  Seek out the rest of the show and decide for yourself.

Update:  I just found some pictures online of yet another different lineup, playing in St. Paul in 2009….maybe they still play occasionally?  I don’t know.

Boneclub

Twin Cities grunge rockers, from their 1989 debut album.

Apple

More from Boneclub. This time from their second album, the Beautiflu EP that eventually got them signed to Imago.

Everythings on Fire

I could talk endlessly about how great Pat & Dacey are. I went to High School with Pat. Dacey seemed to be at every high school house party, so it really was no surprise that he and Pat got a band together. Two really great guys.  Every Boneclub show was a mini-high school reunion for me.

Dacey is apparently now doing comedy in Chicago, and is part of some kind of childrens TV show. (ask the Bing, I don’t have a link) Last I heard Pat was either running or owned a restaurant on Grand Ave. in St. Paul.

Misery

Children of War 7″

I admit, I’ve been trolling the 7inch Crust blog today looking for nuggets of Minnesota Punk history.  It’s hard to NOT find a lot of Misery.  When a band has been around for 20+ years, putting out records, there’s bound to be a lot out there.

I’m old.  I admit it.  If you’re not old you probably won’t get this reference, but here goes:  To me, Misery has always sounds like listening to an old Black Sabbath record at 16RPM.  🙂

I didn’t intend to post a full week of crust.  Actually my intent was to find some metal.  I started out over at Lockjaw, and eventually found my way to a solid week of 7inch Crust linking.  I hope you’ve enjoyed it…if not, maybe next week will have something more your speed.  If there is something you are looking for, or you have a blog and want me to link something up, let me know.

Next Time 7″

MNPunk is turning into MNCrust this week. More Misery.  Seriously, I don’t know if enough can be stated about these guys.   They’ve been doing it in this town for years, and they keep on doing it.  Amazing.

Links to more Misery releases can also be found after the jump.

Destroy!

V/A – Bloodless Unreality

Destroy is a tough one for me to post, because most if not everything is still in print through Havoc.  While that is awesome, it makes it difficult to include them in this documentation of the Minnesota punk scene.  Since this was not released by havoc, I feel safe posting it, knowing that I’m not preventing a record from being sold.

Anyway, While the whole crust thing is something I’ve never really gotten into, I do love Destroy!.  Probably because Felix is a great guy, I used to live with Mark at the THD house, and I’ve seen them play a million times.  They were always fun to watch and Felix had some great topics to growl about…like burning down the Mall of America.  Great stuff.

Destroy is obviously not the only band on this comp., but they do have the first two tracks, so enjoy them.  I believe both of these songs are also available on a Discography CD/LP from Havoc.  I could be wrong though.

Born, Fed…Slaughtered

If there were a grandfather of crust…the old man with crazy stories that you still see hanging around the neighborhood, it would be Misery.  Easily the longest lasting crust band in Minneapolis, these guys have been around for years, and somehow they are still doing shows.

This record is probably their best known (to me anyway) and one of their earliest recordings (1989).  This is a great rip, complete with all the scans.  Grab it while you can.
