My name is Dave, and I grew up in Minnesota listening to the many punk & hard core bands that I'm featuring here. More important though, is that I'm not just posting the stuff that like, but I'm making an attempt to document every band that had something to do with the punk scene in Minnesota. From your Husker Du & Replacements to Dirt Poor & the Kung Fools. Bands that played bars, and bands that played basements and garages. I'd like it all represented here.
I'd also like your help. I can't possible do it all by myself, so if you want to see something here, let me know. If you see something on the net that deserves a mention here, let me know. If you'd like to contribute, let me know.
If you are in a band that I've posted here, and you want your stuff removed, just ask, and it will be removed. Most of my posts are links to other people's posts. Some of it is from my personal record collection. It is my intent to only post stuff that you can not otherwise buy. Long out of print stuff. If I link to stuff that is in print, I will try to include a link to actually purchase it. That won't happen very often though, since I try to post only stuff that I know to be out of print. If the band has an official website, I'll try to post a link to it. If I get something wrong, or you'd like to contribute something, let me know.
All I ask is that you enjoy the crap I post and if you have any suggestions, send me an email at: webbastard at mnpunk.com
“Memo to the P.M.R.C.”
Death Squad – St. Paul, MN crossover metal band from the 1980’s.
Location: 7th St. Entry, Minneapolis, MN
Death Squad were friends of mine. I put out their 7″ EP, and a few cassettes for them. You can hear some of their stuff on the Myspace page I made for them. I’ll post some of the music in another posting. Sorry the video is so small. It’s one of the original videos posted on BasementShows.com, back in the early 90’s dial-up days.
On Earth As It Is In Hell
Another in a string of bands I know nothing about. Maybe some of you can leave a comment about the band.
From the Up in Arms blog.

Existence In Suicide 7″
The Confession 7″
self-released bootleg 7″
Another band from after my active time in the scene. Got this from Tim Fool: Disembodied was ANOTHER band that used to practice at the THD house and for a brief period our former roommate Mark Wilcox played guitar in it. The kids in Disembodied were actually super nice and big pro wrestling marks so I got along with them great. Members of Disembodied went on to form Martyr A.D. with former members of Holding On.
You can read about them on the the Path to Misery blog: The collection that I uploaded as a bundle package includes their Existence In Suicide 7″, The Confession 7″, a self-released bootleg 7″ of two unreleased songs, and their track from the Difference Between Us comp put out by Goodfellow Records. Just for good measure, I also included a 320 rip of their split CD with Brother’s Keeper (where Broz Keep covers Twist Of Cain by Danzig). I did not personally rip the 7″s but I have, however, went through approximately five different sets of Mp3s of every release included and these are by far the best that currently exist amongst the Mp3 trading world.

I really don’t know much about these guys. They came along after my time. I guess they did a reunion show at the 3xRock recently.
Here’s is there Myspace page.
Here’s a web page about them.
Here’s a great interview with Paddy & Eric. Paddy does an excellent job in this interview of describing the mid-late ’90s punk scene. There are a lot of things he says in this interview that are right on the money, and he does a good job of articulating the state of things back then.
Eau Claire, WI – 10/26/07:
When Friday night’s show at Nate’s Dungeon was shut down by the cops, we somehow ended up loading the gear into Taco John’s. Thanks to the help of Taco Sean, history was made.
"Theres a whole lotta hardcore goin on, goin on at Taco John’s!"
Impromptu punk shows are kind of a novilty. Punk fans of th 90’s will remember Dirt Poor doing a simillar thing in the back of a U-Haul at the Uptown Bar. That’s pretty punk rock!
The influence of Your Flesh was pretty heavy since almost half the bands are from Minnesota. Classic early 80’s Minnesota punk from Final Conflict, Otto’s Chemical Lounge, Willful Neglect, Boy Elroy, Red Meat & Ground Zero. Check this one out!
